Yes on the fur. When I dispatch for people to sell them meat, I take the fur and freeze it. When I have time, I'll treat it and see scarves, gloves, hats, etc. I have use for it. Others want color in rabbits for the same reason. So I sell various colors and breed as much for color as I do for meat to bone ratio. I don't maje a huge living but it helps keep my rabbits in food and fodder.

Hi there! I raise New Zealand whites and reds. Californians, standard and mini rexes my favs! But I have some cottontails, three beverens, an Altex, two lionhead a and two holland lops but my make just passed.

I raise for meat production and fur, but my rexes are for pets as well as the lion heads and Hollands. Parents come for meat bunnies, kids feel bad unless they can get a pet for themselves.

I'm having an outbreak of fur mites and ear mites. We just moved and heats in, plus they've been sharing space with chickens while building the colony building so I'm thinking those ingredients are causing a problem. Today chickens will be moved and colony done enough to set them free after mites are treated naturally.

I adore my bunnies. Breathtaking animals! My fav is Mr Mistopholees, a broken chinchilla standard Rex. He takes my blues away!

i know this has nothing to do with what you said.. but my rabbit totally gave me a heart attack because she was pulling out her fur and i thought she was pregnant! (there's no possible way she could be )and it took a while for it to occur to me that it's because it's getting warmer. And in less then a month I get a new show rabbit! a little Thrianta

Right! A secure nesting box away from the male. But it's more of a potassium deficiency. I had doe after doe eat their kits and I'd take ripe bananas, freeze pieces, thaw and feed when they're ready. Not one kit eaten since! Bacon for back up.

Yes, I take her away from the male immediately after she's been covered for a few days. And she does have a nesting box. I'm going to buy another one though, I wonder if she see's my dachshund and if he goes in there when I'm not looking and she gets scared. I know he really wants to eat my rabbits.

Oh yes! The dog is a big issue. You're correct in that. I have a chiweenie that will chase bunnies. They grow very upset if she's in her hyper mood in the rabbitry. They're fine with my pyrenees and my Aussie shepherd. Those two pose no threat. But if Cloud, my kuvasz, runs in my buns go ballistic. He's a LGD that will eat them in a heartbeat. I bet she senses the dachshunds desire for bunny meat! . They will eat their kits to protect them but lets try a few things first before she goes I the stew pot. What breed of bun is she?
