Well the state came out and tested 26 birds. Different ages, breeds and from several different breeders or feed stores. My RSL "heidie" was the only one that tested positive

She is one of my favorites. Comes to me to hold and pet.

The state lady will be back Monday afternoon to pick her up. They have to take her to the lab for testing. Of course you all know that I will not get her back due to she will have to be put down for said test.

I cannot believe this. They said that she came with it and might have even been born a carrier. She came with my BR who does not have it. THey will be back in 30 days to re-test.

This is one of the saddest days ever in my chicken world.

So don't think that the test they come out to do it a nothing test.

I had this happen a few years ago. It was quite unnearving. I turned out to be a false positive which is usually the case. The tester who does my flock has only ever had one true positive & she's been doing the testing for years. Don't know how your state does it but I even got a bill for the lab work.
