Okay so turns out this winter has started off much colder than I've witnessed since living in a caravan. We seem to be able to keep the air very warm and our thermostat is reading at 20°C which is great, however our floor is FREEZING.

Done a lot of googling, seems best thing to do in insulate underneath the van to keep the cold out. However, each website says to do it in a different way. They all recommend using a thick foil wrap insulation approx 10mm.

The first place says to fit the insulation BETWEEN the floor joists.

The second says to fit it on the floor joists allowing for an air gap between the floor and the insulation.

Both make sense to me but which is going to do a better job? I think the second makes more sense with the air gap but I am not knowledgeable here.

Would this project even be worth it at all? Will it make a big difference? It's already -5°C here all day.. assuming it'll only get colder it will be almost unbearable especially with a littleun.
