It's been over 12 hours and my beloved hen, Blondie, hasn't moved out of
the nesting box. Her feathers make her appear all puffed up. And I noticed
the red comb on top of her head is shriveled up, not plump like her sisters.
We've had the girls for over a year and I've never noticed this behavior before.
I'm very concerned. Please advise. Many thanks.

Does she look egg-bound? Check her vent and abdomen for hardness. If she does appear to be egg-bound, place her in a warm bath to loosen up her insides.

K-12 Chickens,
I'm assuming Blondie is egg-bound because she only visits
the nesting box when she is ready to lay an egg. I will
put her in a warm bath. Thank you for your help.

Your welcome! You should also make sure after the bath to offer her food and water. It is essential that she eats and drinks.
