Statute of Limitations on eggs

I went out of town on friday and returned today; my house sitter forgot to collect eggs

I came home to a young hen sitting on 31 eggs, but i really don't want her to hatch any. Are these eggs OK to eat? I'm a little weirded out that she's been sitting on them for 5 days.

i would not eat them after 5 days... when you candle and egg at 7 days you can see the veining pretty clearly... so at 5 days they have begun to do something..
p.s. how did you get 31 eggs in 4 days???? you have a SUPER CHICKEN

I would not eat them. If she has been sitting on them for 5 days there is sure to be development.

HA! Everyone lays in the same next box. So, she is sitting on a few for ALL of my hens.

I hate to throw them out, but that's what I'll do. I already hatched 13 chicks, and DH says NO MORE until I sell this current set!

Candle them....if they're white eggs you might be able to salvage the ones recently laid....not sure though!

I make my dogs food so if it were me... they'd be having omlets!
