My polish hen today decided to go in the nesting box and stay. She's been in there all afternoon and staying there instead of perching for the night with her flock. I watched her for sometime and she would make a noise , low not loud. She was also going around the box. Left then right and so on. Never leaving the box. She has not layed and has just finished molting so she isn't laying again yet. She let me look under her no problems that's why I know no eggs under there. She is also moving her feather like poofing them out and her tail feathers. When I went out there this evening she looked like she was sleeping in there too. Broody ? Polishes aren't known for going Broody but what is she doing ?

Sounds like she's going broody.Maybe she wants the experience of raising some chicks

She could be going broody on you!! Keep an eye on her, make sure she's getting off at least once a day to eat, drink, poop !!

Yup I think she is. Polishes aren't known for going broody. darn why couldn't she had done this several weeks ago when I had eggs to hatch lol. Oh well. This morning she did get up then went and decided to go fight over one nesting box my EE is in.

One of my hens went through a partial molt a few weeks ago. She hung out in the nest alot. I think she felt safer and warmer there. Her feathers have grown back and she is out and about with others now.
