So since moving into a coop and run at 5 weeks my two chickens spend their days in the run... Pretty much whatever the weather, and at night they go into their coop (themselves).
But the last 2 days when I let them out they both charge out and then the pullet goes back in, which in turn means our cockerel follows and seems a little lost. Sits by her for a bit inside or waits by the door.
She does come out but most of the morning she's in and out, as in sits in there for a while or sits in there looking out of the door.
I don't see any signs of close to egg laying as in she pecked me this morning as I reached down, no squatting. Her legs look yellow, comb hasn't got redder or bigger that I can tell. She is 14 weeks... Any ideas? Seems okay in herself in the afternoon and stays out longer.
Oh, but one of the nest boxes has had the straw pulled out and some poop in it, that's a first as they never went near them before?!
Suggestions welcome, I don't want it to be something wrong that I'm not picking up on.
Thanks.
Ps. Yes I'm getting more hens for the rooster, haven't seen him overly harassing her, bar one day a few weeks back over a treat. He hasn't tried mating her or anything yet.
