Stella's Social Club

My husbands grandparents have both been deceased for several years, the property has been for sale since at least 2008. The family has been gradually chipping away at the huge amount of things amassed in their house, shed, shop, and the old gas station out front. A fire last summer ruined what was left of the house which was sad. Tonight while we were there for an easter egg hunt and cookout, and my father-in-law unlocked the gas station for us to take a look around. I have never stepped foot in there, it has always been packed to the ceiling with "treasures." (I call it the Myers Packrat gene) BUT tonight I found some cool treasures of my own. Three wood and one metal Old Trusty incbuators. Not sure yet what I want to do with them. They have quite a bit of water damage from the leaky ceiling in the station.

That is awesome!

Is there anyone in the family that knows the story behind them?

I'm sure his grandparents actually used them for a while, they had a small flock of chickens for many years. I never met my husband's grandfather he died about six months before we met, but I am almost certain he picked these up at an estate sale, flea market, or garage sale in the Tulsa area. They say he always bought something if he stopped to look, it was the polite thing to do! He loved to garage sale and look for useful or fixable things. In his later years with his cancer things started piling up. Had to stop the big garden. They closed the station and them the auto shop, and the property started falling into disrepair. But so many family members and people in the community have good memories there! My husband proposed to me there in the shade of a big tree back by the pond....

Oh, I think those were deviled egglets all right.

Nice find, Rinda, I am sure he would be happy that someone who knew what they were found them

My hens had their second day out of the pen since November yesterday. The young GFF CL cockerels were not sure what to do out in the big world beyond the chicken wire

These two boys got some frostbite this winter while I was gone - my chicken sitter felt bad for the chickens in the bitter cold and shut the window in the coop for several nights. Before that their combs were quite good. I am really liking the boy on the right, what do you think Rinda?

And my sweet and bossy little Freckles spent most of her time digging up the front flower bed, which I did NOT discover until I went out to put them up

The boy on the right does have an excellent body shape.

LOL about the flower beds!
