Looks like a fun project Jason. I am trying to get started with Brabanters. Lukka has three chicks now. Sadly we had to put the little one down that got stuck in the egg. I just couldn't get it's little legs corrected and it couldn't get off its back and when it breathed it made terrible clicking sounds. I appreciate Kelly trying but I think in trying to get out by itself it somehow damaged one or both legs.

There was a broody war over the Brabanter chicks going on this morning so I grabbed the blue Icelandic and put her back in with the Icelandics. I want Lukka to raise the Brabanters, not a crazy new broody. So, the crazy blue Icelandic has been running around fighting everyone in Coop #5 to protect her invisible babies! I went to the feed store and bought her two 4-day-old Cuckoo Marans chicks. It was all they had left in little ones. I will move her to a box in the floor tonight and put them under her. Hopefully it will work. That leaves me one Icelandic sitting on 3 eggs and another sitting on shavings.

The BCM who is raising the 3 Orpington chicks is doing a great job! I only plan to keep the chocolate one, if it's a girl. But for now, they are a happy little family.

I am in the process of buying more Brabanter hatching eggs now. I also have Pavlovskaja (Pavlovskya) hatching eggs in the incubator right now too. I decided to go with breeding Icelandics and weird crested breeds. I'll keep the big coop for my layers only and keep Coop #1 free for broodies, grow-outs, etc.

Cynthia your son Richard(as a young boy) is the spitting image of my son at that age. Same gorgeous red hair color. My son however, now shaves his head.

Yes my little igloo grow out coop. they are in the big run now.
I just hatched more of these olive eggers too
