Oh my goodness, your litttle on the left, taking a good look at the camera, reminds me of my red head..Richard. :) Nice looking family! :)
Here is Richard, I'm guessing around the same age as your little one I am talking about. Although, Richard is short for his age...always, because he was born with Spina Bifida. Anyway, maybe it's the haircut?

Here he is today. Lighter red. He is with Lindsey Sterling. He does a lot of advertising
for her. If you haven't heard of her, go to youtube..she does some pretty fine violin playing,
and dancing at the same time. Pretty fun. When did this baby grow up?

Lindsey is truly amazing with a violin!!

This is the dang freeloader that was at my house yesterday. It was walking around the chicken pens and eating any feed that had been spilled.

I walked within 30 feet, waved my arms and yelled. It just stood there and watched me.

Oh Deb, I feel your pain! I have managed to keep them off of my favorite plants by sprinkling Milorganite around. It's made from dried sewage sludge (ugh). It works best if you start sprinkling it before the deer actually find the plants they like best. I've also had good luck with scare crows of different sorts. The one that works best, which I found purely by accident, is an old soccer ball with a hole in it that I picked up and stuck on top of a fence post to get it out of the way of the mower. Then I noticed the deer avoided that part of the garden. i move the soccer ball around to different areas occasionally. But if they're hungry enough, nothing works.

It is a tough call. Chickens get valley fever and anti biotics do nothing for that. I would suggest an anti biotic and use non activated oxine in a mister twice a day for 20 minutes. Oxine will kill both bacteria and fungus. I had a hen die of Valley Fever last Fall. It was quite sad. The crowing makes me think of fungus because it can create a plug just before the lungs.

Chickens cannot take a lot of treatments. I would give him a good multi vitamin, yogurt in the morning and up the feed to Game feed with high protein.

:fl Here is hoping for a speedy recovery!

Thank you, trying this

1muttfan - I have not tried this but some reviews from others were that the weeds died on the surface but most of the time, not the roots, so they came back. It might be worth the try though, especially if you are trying to keep the weeds from growing up along an electric fence. I'm guessing you can re-apply as needed.

Anyone tried this? With the bees, chickens, and other critters and people around the place I have become very reluctant to use weed killers, and my yard shows it.

I'll try to find it, but someone did a cost and chemical analysis on this homemade vs. round up. Guess which is actually more toxic and costs more? They actually concluded both have there uses.
ETA: If I recall correctly neither is particularly toxic to mammals when used as directed.

I use white vinegar straight in a spray bottle and go around using it to kill weeds. It works great. It will not work on bamboo though. It takes about a week to kill it. It works more slowly than roundup. I use it exclusively here. Also make sure you really soak the weed. So it takes more than if you spray with roundup. I pull weeds by hand first and then the ones that are tough (like dandelions) to get the whole plant out, those are the ones I use the vinegar on.

I buy about six bottles of white vinegar a year which is about $18.

Don't leave the vinegar inside your spray bottle though when you aren't using it. It will break the trigger sprayer on your spray bottles. I pour the vinegar back into the main bottle and rinse out my spray bottle each time.

My FIL adds Dawn to his vinegar for his yard.

Many years ago my DH was putting on a family wedding in his garden. It was recommended that he put an old TV in the garden and leave it on 24 hours per day. So he put a small TV on a table in the garden, planted $1,000 worth of flowers over several days and that TV flickered and the sound was on to the morning of the wedding. Nothing was touched. They disconnected the TV, the night of the wedding, deer came in and ate everything.

So you'd have to be willing to have it forever..............or until they got used to it and learned to ignore it.

But it makes me think of farside. The deer probably pulled up chairs, sipped cocktails and tried to figure out how to change the channel without thumbs.
