These aren't the Russians, these are Dutch! The Brabanter is a Dutch breed of chicken originating in the historic region of Brabant which straddles Belgium and the Netherlands.

I learned a new skill today- my friend taught me how to caponize! I caponized 6 boys by myself, no slips. I kept 5 birds total to keep an eye on, they are Marans X Cream Legbars so they should get good sized!

It was much easier than I thought, at least on the 6 week old boys I did. By the last one I was down to about 10 minutes per rooster. She did a 4 month old boy and that looked a little more complicated. They will be good eating in 5-6 months!
