Just went out to check on Ida. It's been 3.5 hours. She was still setting on the chicks, chicks were quiet or asleep I assume and Ida was upset I was opening up the nest box from the back!

Tomorrow morning, I'll move Ida and the chicks into a pet carrier and put them along with some water and ground up chick feed into a grow out pen where I once had the Ameraucanas.

If that all works, pics to follow.

I've got a CRAZY weekend. I teach a class tomorrow night.
Friday in the AM I plan a baptism for Saturday AM
Friday at 1PM I fly to San Diego for a business proposition and fly back at 9:30PM
Saturday morning is the baptism... I'll miss a funeral, but there's nothing I can do about that
Saturday evening is our Church Christmas party... the kids are all dressing as kids from Whoville and the Grinch and Santa will be present.
Sunday it's church practically ALL day and then Christmas choir practice at night.

I'll almost be happy for it to be over and back to work again on Monday!
 
You're making me tired Dar! Now I can't wait to go back to work on Monday! And I don't even work!

I just finalized plans to have grandson Buddy for 4.5 days in January. He'll be dropped off here by friends returning from my son's home in southern CA and I will fly him home on January 6th. It is not a lot of time but it has been a year since I've seen him so I will take what I can get!

Been still decorating for Christmas tonight. Added another tree and finished the lights on the deck. Put two fake little topiary trees by one of the front doors, etc.
 
You both make me tired. One tree is enough for me.

Well I'm excited you're getting chicks, but I will miss the calmness you had during your first emu hatch!

Sounds like a busy, but joyous weekend (other than missing the funeral).

I used to work with people from NY, which were amazed at our "freedoms" in OH, people in OH are amazed at the "freedoms" in MO.
 
Happy Chooks - to go with the leg lamp - Target has been selling $ 1. items - the Christmas story leg stress (ball?) that's what it's called BUT, its flat. They also have leg cookie cutters - really!!

Dar, I think you should sleep in the coop to keep an eye on Ida.
