We had a busy 4 days of dog shows. Sunday we finally received a point, winning "Best of Winners". Thursday there was a special puppy show, we won "Puppy Best of Breed" that day.

Our Friend Jennifer is in the middle with Vinlands Leifur (Lee), Lee won "Best of Breed" at all 4 show. He is the littermate/brother to my male Icelandic Sheepdog Vinlands Erik (Moose). Moose and Lee are also cousins to Sunna.
At the other end is Taylor Fischer with Vinlands Totty. Totty is Sunna's mother and won "Best of Opposite Sex" 3 of the 4 shows. Taylor is Jennifer's handler's, Guy Fischer, daughter.
We sent Guy home with one of the Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys we had raised. He was very happy.

Wow, those students did a good job with that eagle snatching video- I had to watch it a few times to see the spots where the "fakeness" showed through. I have mixed feelings on it- amazing what they did not so amazing the effects it may have on people who think it's real.
It was a CGI project for a college class. If you pause it at just the right moments the shadows disappear. Also the eagle "pauses" for about 3 seconds during "picking up" the kid. One of the articles I read said that the video was made first, and the eagle and baby were both added by computer generation software.
I have had a predator here. Don't know what. Two of my Icelandics are gone. Just gone. Not to be found anywhere.

That is not all. About 10 days ago began another "problem." I lost 3 Delaware pullets.One each night, 3 nights in a row, and each time they were found on the nest in the morning. Dead, just dead, with no marks or anything. I am frantic. The last few days I have not lost any, but each morning I go outside to let them out - I enter the coop with reluctance.
I have had no symptoms of disease. Well, I had the Barred Rock pullet with the dropped wing. That coop is furthest away from where the Delawares are - in the layers coop. No further problems in the breeder barn (where the Barred Rock pullet was).
We had a stray cat here - for a few days. It was skinny and hungry. Tyler fed it and it kept coming back. It has not been back for a week. Could it have been the cat?
I am fearful. I do know that at point of lay (which is the age of my Delawares), there is sometimes problems and death. I say that because, each one was on the nest.

Wow, what a puzzle on the Dels. Did you autopsy any to see if it may have been an egg issue? Seems odd that it would happen three nights in a row though if it had anything to do with pol. Could they have gotten into something together and just happened die from it over a three day period? Just tossing some ideas out there............
