I don't even have Icelandics but love this thread. Also Mary's blog!

Lots of fun to read about all the things y'all talk about!

I am usually wanting to be in the Feeding and Watering or Emergencies section myself. Or raising chicks. Haha. I have had soooo many chicks these last few years it is like a compressed education. Finally we have settled on a few breeds, and keep trying out new ones.

I have the goal of a perfect flock with perfect breeds. Oh and perfect roosters.

I collected 9....that's right 9 Icelandic eggs today!! Big deal, so what, you might say, what's so important about that? Well, I have 12 Icelandic females; four hens (two will be three and two will be two by Sept), four pullets that will be one year old between March 1 and May 1 and four pullets that are the daughters of Elska who are just over five months old. The high yesterday was 12 F and today it was 23 F, lows at 0 F and 4 F. The day length is at 9 hours and 46 minutes and I am not supplementing light or heat, yet these pullets are starting to lay at just over 5 months old!

But I am still Jason and Cooper will always be my little boy

Great name Jason!

Today I got TWO eggs from 7 Icelandic hens and the weather is PERFECT... I think my best day ever was 7 of 8.

I only have 8 hens now and one (Blucy) is taking care of chicks. Ida is already laying again after taking care of her brood so I imagine she'll be going broody again if she is related to Lukka....

Wish I'd have known it was pie day. I would have bought one.

I'm a huge fan of banana cream and coconut cream pie and key lime pie and .... OK I just love pie.
