Stella's Social Club

Not a good picture but here they are at 6 weeks. The one to the far left passed away today.

I lost a little turkey poult to the heat today. She was looking bad this morning so I thought maybe she had coccidiosis or had injured her leg jumping down from the door frame. I treated the turkey water with Corid as a preventative measure and added chick probiotics and vitamins.
Mary, I could be wrong, but I was told to NOT use vitamins when using Corid. Corid is a thiamine blocker and you do not want to add more thiamine to block.

Dang, I did not have my camera outside with me! I am so gonna work on getting this on video.....
I love my dog!

I have my "Fred and Wilma," whistle that I do when I am calling them. Sometimes they are over on the south acres. Sometimes they are down by the pond. Sometimes they are visiting the neighbors (close to the pond). I go out and do my whistle and Tyson (our dog) is either with them or knows where they are. I whistle and he brings them to me! He has learned that he can not round them up like cattle and "chase" them home. He goes to them and circles for a bit, and then he leads and they follow! (I'm sure they think they are chasing him).

I love my dog!

It has been so Hot.. So Sorry to here about your turkey.. I lost one of my older EE last week. Not sure if it was heat or age, maybe a combo.

Loved all the pictures of Buddy..looks like he had a great time at Grandma's.
I also love the new fence you put in. Really looks inviting

Hope you all get a cool off, if you are suffering in heat! Lucky me - my forecast is only 90 today. I am so thankful.

So in keeping in the spirit of the social part of this..... Lets chat about what makes birds fun....their diversity!!!

Here are a few pics of my strange, mixed flock

My Lavernar Orpington Rooster, Buddy
:
He ia very friendly and curious.... because he is from a "project color" he does have the falt of the funky feathering...seen mostly in his tail and random baring marks. But that is Ok, I think he is fine.... LOL

AND, the new thing I have that is most exciting me, Cayuga ducks.
These things have been extreamly hard for me to get my hands on...so I think I am going to start (on a very small scale) breeding some....

Here are the two adults I got from a member of BYC (he hatched them this spring, from a member in IN) These two are very nice gals....
And of course, the pics do not do their color justice.....

And just for fun, a baby that NotAFarms hatched in the Easter Hath-a-thon (I own it now - not a clur if it is a boy or a girl yet)

Well luckily they turned the waterer over anyway Kathy and drank from the autofill one. Thanks for the heads up though!

I sent six chicks, 2 male cream Legbars and 4 Isbars up to Reno with my friend today. She delivered them to a customer for me. Saved him a trip down to pick up. So I have whittled my abby chick population down quite a bit. I'll be shipping some cream Legbar chicks and the rest I will keep. Of my flock of nine cream Legbar pullets I will probably only be keeping five. Four of them are from eggs I got from someone else and they have too much orange and gold color.

That is so cute Kathy! Mine are not nearly as well behaved. Couldn't be because they are spoiled.

Speaking of spoiled, we let Jackson and Diana out front to the new fenced area created by the new fence. We don't have the gate across the driveway yet but Michael leaned a gate we already had up against the posts and secured it with the Polaris. I got the donkeys and brought them up front. They are having a ball with all that grass and shade! Diana has been running like the wind despite her portly stature.
