Stella's Social Club

20 of 28 isn't that bad.

I got 9 of the 12 Alohas hatched (The daddy was actually a GORGEOUS, Swedish Flower Hen and the moms were Sommer's Aloha Project) and 11 of the 16 that Tab had shipped here from GA and CA hatched.

Tab is coming over to take some home to her broody later today. I think she got 4 out of 9 to make it. 5 hatched but the first one died. Her broody is a full sister (Blue Copper Maran) to my broody that is taking care of the 15 that Kathy sent me.

My other Olive Egger/EE (3/4s BW Am X 1/4 FBCM) will take care of any chicks that Tab doesn't take.

I've got to go to the office to work on an Emergency pt in a few minutes, then I'll be back by 2PM so Boston can drop by and get some chickens to take back to Heber with him.

My wife is SO HAPPY that the incubator has been washed, sanitized and put away. Amazing how they all actually hatched before they were due.. perhaps I had the incubator set a tad too high, but I couldn't find my spot check... last year I had to keep it a full degree warmer to get it to 99.5 so I set it for 100.4

It's been a good little bator, I love not having to worry about putting in water or checking humidity. I was just amazed at how dirty it got!!! From 6:30 AM Friday until the last one hatched at 6:30 AM today.

I didn't notice any difference in the chicks, but these are my first. They are shaped/body type like any other leghorn, just the beautiful markings make the difference. As chicks the color was large patches of black/white like your chick, no spots.

Swiped internet photos.

Hens

I'm hoping to get my youngsters moved today, if I do I'll take a few photos of them.
Thanks Deb.....that is very interesting. Pics of the youngsters would be great! I can hardly wait to see how these two feather-out.

I swapped some Icelandic eggs with flocksalot for some Midget White eggs and she hatched a chick that looked like my pair. She said it is her favorite so I'll be checking to see how that one turns-out too.

good ideas on the temp coop. I may just build one myself but almost as much as having someone do it and would take me forever with so little time.
Molly does your husband build anything bigger with out the run say 6x8 open in the front?

Mary your coop flooring is much nicer than my kitchen floor - how sad! I don't suppose you would trade?
Whatcha got?

I'd be too embarrassed to show you Mary but, lets just say it's many, many, many, years old & most of the pattern is worn off - those are it's best features- it goes down hill from there.

I love cobbler, and I really really love "simple, quick, easy."
I do not like to spend hours in the kitchen. Nope. Those days are gone.

I had some frozen fruit and I always keep a few organic cake mixes in the freezer, too. I came across this recipe and just had to try it! Only 3 ingredients..... berries, cake mix, and a can of Sprite!

(not my picture)

I just ate some. YUMMY ! ! !

No mess to clean up either. Pour the berries in the cake pan. Sprinkle cake mix over the berries. Pour the Sprite over the top. Bake!
