We rounded the last corner before our house and there were four standing in the middle of the road. Had I not been going very slow I would have hit them. One was a big buck with a huge rack of antlers!

Today is my 64th birthday!

Saturday morning I was driving home from an early vet appt. I was going slowly around a curve near my house that always ices up. I came around that curve to find a pack of bicylists stopped, watching their friend who had crashed on the ice and was sprawled in the middle of my lane with his bike. I knew I was on ice so braked carefully. I felt a little sick when the tires didn't catch and I was sliding towards the prone rider, so I steered into the blind oncoming lane. Within a few feet my tires caught again and I was able to get back into my own lane, the rider moved and I went home without killing him, me or the other six riders just beyond him that would have been like bowling pens.

On my way home that afternoon a big doe leaped out directly in front of me, inches. If I had been 2 feet further up the road, she would have broadsided my truck.

It wasn't a good driving day, but since they were both misses, it could have been worse.

i know what you mean about that "sick feeling" you get in your stomach when something like that happens. when i was stationed up in KS i had to learn to drive in the ice and snow. its a scary feeling when you hit a patch of black ice going down the hwy. but it seems like the worst is when you are going slow on purpose and still lose traction...

I'm very excited for these wellies. The pullet is from another breeder line with some great qualities I need to add to my flock. I think this hen with my rooster will make some great babies!

I may have to try to sweet talk you into selling me some Wellie eggs. I have 4 hens that will be 3 this year and lost the young cockerels I raised to cross with them. My hubby wants me to get more because those are his favorite colored eggs

Yikes Kelly, no internet yet this morning? I would be AWOL if I had to post from my phone.

I can barely see the screen well enough to make a phone call. My computer monitor is 27 inches!

Dar I hope you get your glasses soon. I don't have vision insurance so it didn't matter for me. I know LenCrafters is a rip-off but I needed glasses the same day. My second pair is ready for pick up so I am going to send these back to have the lenses re-done with the progressive line starting a bit lower. When I drive, there is a blur right in the middle of my line of sight so I have to tilt my head. Don't like that. Too scary with all the deer in the road around here. I need a clear field of vision! Today is my 64th birthday! Michael asked what I wanted. He wanted to take me away for a couple of days but I said no because of the dental pain I am having. Couldn't enjoy myself and the drive would be miserable. Then he asked if I wanted roses. I said no, they will just die anyway in the freezing cold house. So here is what I asked for. Dinner at the local restaurant to share a honey mustard ham sandwich melt and fries with him. I also asked for help cleaning the coops today. He agreed! Gonna' be a good birthday!
