Stella's Social Club

Diva and Gryeyes,

You two just brought back a flood of good (and bad

) memories.

Thanks

mmddh Diva said to tell you , to tell Kathy that she is not home for chicks either. But, if Kathy would like to send chocolate( candy) chicks instead, maybe Diva could be persuaded to come home, in total stealth mode of course.

Good thing you added (candy) into that sentence. You know I am hatching chocolate chicks!

PS.... Love the card! Thank you!

At this end of the The Way It Was long-viewer, the view of Them Thar Days is ..... more Kaleidoscopic than clear.

Spangles of bright shiny fun bits and the dark, opaque slivers sliding across the pretty colors. Twist the end-cap to change the image.

"Children are seen but not heard." "Keep your hands in your pockets."

I think some of my "collecting" tendencies are a direct result of rebellion against childhood restrictions. All those tourist gift shops with really cool items (shrunken heads, sand dollars, Myrtle wood carved figurines, tinkly cheap glass wind chimes from China and the like) in which my father uttered the "hands in pockets" rule turned me into someone who simply has to touch and keep "prizes."

The very first thing I bought in my twenties as a direct link to the past was a chunk of coral. For no reason other than remembering I wasn't allowed to touch some in a gift shop. It was a tough choice between that and a polished whelk shell.

Now it's poultry. Yeah, that tracks. :lau

I still never touched my sister. Got "this" close plenty of times though.

My family drove a red and white Pontiac station wagon with tuck/roll seats. There was a dividing line of color right in the middle of the bench seat. That was No Man's Land. Any transgression by the tiniest molecule of a pinkie was reported immediately. This rule was in place during the family vacations driving up the coast to Washington or even on the Sunday drive.

Remember that hard pebbly flooring material in cars then and the huge hump in the floor for the drive train? I wonder what that floor was made out of, it would survive a nuclear war. Well, maybe not true, I can remember one BF with a car you could watch the road go by through the large hole in the floor by your feet.

Somehow, I can't even remember my brother being in the car, but he was nine years old, maybe he was left home.

WHY does the top of my foot hurt? No injury, no swelling, but it feels like someone just stomped on my foot! It was so bad when I went to bed at 10PM last night. This morning, it was all better! No pain. NOW, it is beginning. Progressively getting worse. What is this?

I have that same issue all the time in my right foot. It's the tendons that run from my toes. Try taking some ibuprofen and applying an ice pack.

Mine improves if I wear shoes ALL the time with fairly good support (a decent pair of tennis shoes). If I try to get away with sandals/slippers/etc. in the house, it is always worse.

My Dad's response to our whining was to tell us that nobody likes a tattle tail, and if no one was going to get hurt he didn't want to hear about it. Usually accompanied by a lecture about how us 3 girls needed to get along because when we were grown we would need each other. Wouldn't you know he was right.

Kathy relax, what you have is ' top of the foot pain,' which is usually lots better than 'bottom of the foot pain.'- Just ask my brother using Lidocaine patches from prescription and not having much luck.

You're welcome re: the card. I thought you'd know instantly who sent that. I don't know maybe you feel the same way about c-a-n-d-y.

I know Mary loves her candy and brags about her candy, and doesn't let anyone have any of her candy. Yes, this was probably years ago but, I haven't forgiven or forgotten
