Why didn't you video record?

I wonder if Farmer Fred would like about 100 cockerels from me!

Today, a customer picked up 50 chicks from last weeks hatch.

Today's hatch is about ½ done (due at midnight tonight).....

Blue Boy. Miss Polaris (?) twin behind him. Hope she starts laying soon!

Kola and Blue Boy's chick.....

My first White Rock chick!

Blue Boy really looks good, how old is he?
I think I'll print off the today's hatch picture, hang it near my incubator so DW will always see that before looking at my incubator, that way ever how much I hatch it will look small.

Well, I don't! I didn't remember to check and see if they got back in a coop last night until well after dark. I was out there from 9:00 until 10:00 searching for them with a flashlight!

I found the little cockerel and the blue girl huddled together under the nest box overhang in the project pen. That was pretty easy. I just picked them up, opened the nest box lid and dumped them in! The white one was a whole 'nutha story! I could not find her anywhere, running the batteries completely out in the first flashlight.

I kept looking with a fresh flashlight for about 45 minutes. I checked every nook and cranny of all five coops and every inch of every run. I could see several places where she could have gotten out of the runs into the yard so I started looking there. I had given up and was coming back to the house when I spotted a piece of paper on the ground between the emu and goat pastures. I went to check it out and it was her. She was hunkered down in the wet grass, sleeping like a baby. I picked her up and huddled her to warm her. I went back into the project run, opened the egg door and put her in the nest box with the other Icelandic chicks.

Today, instead of doing what I planned to do, I will be adding chicken wire aprons to the runs to keep these wily coyotes in!

I haven't been out to check on them this morning.

Please be in the run.

Did you get them on their way Kathy? Brooder cleaning is on my list today. I'll bet it is on your's too!

I cleaned out a Brooder before work today. I have to protect the chicks from Urban Predators.

They are real bad one too!
