Maybe mine was blind too. Six straight days of eleven chicks peeping non-stop just about sent me to the mental hospital. They all huddled with the other chick too. At one point they were all in the corner of the cage, piling up against the side in a pyramid, screaming. I double checked the brooder temp under the lights and it was perfect! I am sorry the little chick passed on but I am glad for the others. Chickens sure mimic each other, don't they?
 
Kathy, for crying out loud, don't let emus near a mud puddle, then tell them to stay out of it!

They won't get pasty butt at 6 days old from being cold. I hear that cold causes pasty butt quite often around here. Just to clarify, it is any stress during the first 3 days. Chicks that get stuck in the shell will get pasty butt too regardless of how cold they get.
 
Kathy, didn't those geese have babies down at the water? Or maybe I was seeing things. The younguns look great!
