Michael and I just had a quiet New Year's Eve dinner with a cheese plate and salami, cheese puff appetizers, and sparkling cider. It was nice. There is a gourmet cheese shop located across town and I bought the cheese for Christmas dinner appetizers. With the mass cancellations and late arrival times I didn't put it out. I am glad now that I didn't. It was perfect!

Don't know if I posted Michael's mom's recipe for cheese puffs. It is simply equal parts finely chopped sweet onion, grated Parmesan cheese (the green plastic jar type) and mayo. Mix it together, spread on English muffins, and broil till golden brown and bubbly. Cut into quarters. So good!

My Wellie, Chatty Cathy has laid a total of about 20 eggs her entire life. She's retired now and no longer lays.    :/      She wastes all her energy yakking all day long.

I have a new layer, a splash Isbar! Very different shade than my black Isbar's eggs which are in the tray. Impressed with the size for a first egg though!

Nice egg! My Belgian D'Anver pullets recently began laying with full size eggs, but they waited until they were 30+ weeks to begin so that could have something to do with it, that they were mature.

My DH got back into oil painting after a 20+ year hiatus. He was an art major in college a million years ago (he's about to turn 61 in Feb). He did this portrait of Ladyhawk's rooster, Lancelot, for a surprise gift for her, his first ever chicken painting. You recall she did a gorgeous beaded portrait of my late Suede on deer hide for me that took literally years.

Then, I had a new task for him. Though this one turned out well and looks just like big ole Lance....

This one of my sweet old baby boy, Isaac, I love. Big Ike is about to turn 5 years old in February, so like my DH, is close to Social Security, lol, and I wanted a portrait of him before he was gone. He was scared to do a white chicken, but I think he did just fine. I adore that rooster, he's such a love. It will take three to five weeks to fully cure then it goes on my office/craft room wall. Here is King Isaac, surveying his domain.

I know crows are not always the most popular birds, I love to watch them and usually have a family that hangs around each summer. My dad sent me this - very bright bird!

Love the chicken paintings Cyn! I wish I could paint. That would be awesome.The first picture I would paint would be this one. But that's never gonna happen!
