Yes! She has a Genesis 1588.

the person wants to move up to a bigger incubator. I have the first Genesis 1588 that they sold with the LCD Control. It is 3 degrees off lol. A lot of people with the first ones had very bad hatches because of the low temps. The Hygrometer is 10 off too.

Mine is dead now. It would not go above 96 degrees when I tried using it as a hatcher. I need to get GQF to give me an order number for the replacement part.

I heard about problems with the first generation one. The one I got in 2013 is an insurance co replacement after our house fire. I calibrated a well-rated analog hygrometer and put it in the bator and I agree that the hygro in there reads exactly 10% low so I kept the reading where it was in proper range no matter if I was going by the Genesis one or the analog one. What is interesting is that on the control panel, it says to never run it above 65% humidity, so if the hygro says 65%, then is it really 75% and you're running it too high, lol? I never let it go above 60% (during the hatch)on the Genesis control panel so it was never really above 70% in the bator and if it looked like it was going over, during the hatch, I opened up the vent all the way.

I think the temp is exact because I also have a Spot Check and "spot checked" it when I was setting it up to be sure. Never assume, right?

I am going to call to see if I can get the part number to order the replacement controler for the LCD Genesis. It sounds like they have fixed the problem.

There is a lock on the temp setting--It will not go above 103 so I could not get the Temp on my Brinsea Spot check above 97 at 65% humidity so it was 7 degrees off at that point.

Mary - I tried to call you last night. Several people on the Norcal thread are raving about the Dickey incubator. (saying it's better than the Sportsman) Thought you'd be interested.

I thought I heard the phone when I was down in the basement checking the incubator.

The little chick is doing well. I just moved it back outside again. Dipped it's beak and showed it the food so hopefully it does better this time. The older chick didn't freak this time either.

The last holdout of the original shipped eggs is four days late hatching but it is still moving. I have hopes. Working to keep the humidity up. I have to fill the water tray constantly and the auto humidity pump.

Michael is going to move the incubator to his man cave after this egg hatches and try another batch where he can constantly monitor things. Still don't know what eggs I'll put in it though. I don't need any breeds except the Isbar. I may order more so I will know if the hardest eggs for me to hatch can hatch with constant manipulation of the incubator.

I am considering getting an incubator in a few months. Probably 20-40 eggs. After all the hardships -- which brand name and model should I be saving for? Definitely need a solid humidifier since it is very dry here.

I purchased the Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance Ex when I upgraded from the Gen. 1588. I really like the humidity pump. I've also have heard good things about rcom.

So is the Brinsea working well for you? With a good hatching rate?

I posted on my blog about the Stockton Show with lots of pics. Feel free to shout out if I messed up any of the breeds. At first I was photographing the cage card first, then the bird so I would know who was what. Then my camera battery started to drain so I stopped photographing the cards.

Thanks Eva! Foodgawker and Tastespotting both published it so that was cool. Usually one does and the other doesn't. Tastespotting rejects anything with garnish that doesn't apply to the dish, so I was worried about the thyme, but I poached the eggs with fresh thyme and I wanted to show it. They usually reject dessert pics with mint in them. They did publish my mint ice cream pic with mint garnish though!

Foodgawker likes to see the entire dish the food is one with space around it. If not, they reflect it for "composition too tight."

It is fun to try though. I appreciate the feedback.

So is the Brinsea working well for you? With a good hatching rate?

I bought it to hatch peafowl, the humidity is 60% for the entire incubation period. I only have used it for one hatch 6/10 hatched, the 4 that did not hatch never developed. So it worked well for me for it's one use.
