It must be true for Google said it:Have you ever seen a Cat Face spider? Well, we have them here in Utah. Poisiness. We have a lot of Black Widows too. See those more often, but the other day, DH and I were backing up out of the carport, saw this little stinker. Said I would get that guy and web when we got back. I did. But first got a couple of photos of it. It's young. They get pretty big. They have fake eyes are on their back side. They have pointy ends on the butt up above the fake eyes, looks like a cat face.
Ugly little critters. I do not like the fact that we found one here.![]()

They are harmless with low toxicity venom.
That really does not make any sense to me....Venom is Venom right?
All spiders have venom. That's why they are able to stun their prey and render it immobile. Only a few have venom that causes problems to humans though.
From my reading in just a few minutes these cat face spiders are completely harmless to humans and pets. From when I lived in Utah, to my memory you have the Black Widow, Brown Recluse, and Hobo Spider as your harmful-to-humans spiders. The Hobos are the only ones I was really afraid of- they have no fear and will chase you if they feel threatened.
