Stella's Social Club

I love this new house! Wrap around porches are my favorite, too!

How many bedrooms ya got, Mary? Enough for all of us to come stay over a weekend?

The coops are great! That worked out well - now you can get the linoleum done! Perfect!

No, Stella will not be roosting in the pines. The Cooper's hawks roost in those pines. All poultry will be grounded in covered runs. No more free ranging. We got away with it here because there are no trees for them to sit in and swoop down. Not so at the new house. Even though they can free range here they stay in a very small area for the most part anyway. They like to be right up along the fence line with the other chickens so they can fight through the wire. So, every breed will have it's own nice sized run. I am not keeping as many of each breed as I have been. I am going for quality not quantity. One roo and 6 to 7 pullets of each breed is it. I am getting a bigger coop for the Icelandics so I can have a couple more of those and still have room for my four layers.

We are zoned agricultural so all my animals are already approved per Nevada county. I could have up to 11 emus but that is not happening! That glitch about only allowing horses was an old CC&R provision that has not been in effect for 40 years. I just got worried when I saw it and had to verify that it was no longer used.

Thanks for being excited for me. I need a forever home and I can live easily on the first floor of this house without ever going upstairs. I can still handle the stairs quite well if I just go up at night and down in the morning. Everything I need during the day is downstairs including laundry. The home is big, 3200 square feet not including the finished basement so there is plenty of room for me and Michael. He is taking one room in the basement for a music studio and I am taking the kitchen and living room for canning and sewing. It is set up as a weird little apartment down there. We still have five other bedrooms including one on the first floor with a full bath. Stella could host ya'll for a party!

I dont' even have to climb stairs to unload groceries. The garage is on the same level as the kitchen!

I am so HAPPY for you Mary!

WOW!!!!

Last time I was in that neck of the woods was when I went to a friends funeral in Auburn... they lived in Meadow Vista on a lake at the time. The spouse has since moved to Boise.

IT SURE WOULD! COULD YOU ALL COME WHILE THERE IS STILL A LOT OF WORK TO DO?

I took a vow never to spend money in CAL, but I would break it for Stella's party. I'm sure the DW would be ok with it, if the guy coming over tomorrow buys two of her goats in milk.

I'm certain a few others that have posted could clear their calendars.
