Nice Icelandics. Your wife and the youth group are blessed to be able to help the less fortunate.
My 7 month old female Icelandic Sheepdog, named Sunna, and I will be in her first show this weekend. It will also be the first time I have ever shown a dog. I'm very nervous, I'm really an introvert, and hate the idea of being "on stage". There is only one other Icelandic Sheepdog entered, he just became a grand champion last weekend. He also beat the AKC number 1 rated Icelandic Sheepdog last Sat. and Sun. Just to make it a little more interesting Sunna came into season the other day.
MIMDDH I used to show dogs many moons ago, I think at that time you weren't allowed to show a female in heat. Maybe you could inquire about that. I know you are nervous and wouldn't want to heap more on your plate. I had alot of social phobias in the olden days but, I learned to just "see" my dog and the judge and it helped enormously. What a beautiful dog!
Kathy, I loved that song! Different words to a familiar tune!! DW is doing her thing with the youth group at Church. They are delivering six full meals to some disadvantaged families... all they'll have to do is cook the meals up.
I went shopping to two stores for DW to help get it all ready.
I took DS#6 and DD to see Wreck it Ralph, they enjoyed the movie... me not so much.
I did get a chance to go out and open up the 2nd pop door and the only ones who took advantage of the semi green grass by the coop were Icelandics... so I ran in and got my camera.
This is Phyllis... She has a "do"
Here is a "group shot" from left to right. Arby, Blackie (original huh?), Blucy, Cloud and the tail end of Goldie.
Whitney is the one with the white tail, included in the pic is "Rose" the large Icelandic behind the run fence with the HUGE Rose comb... include also in the pic is the tail end of Larraine, my Australorp and Blue, my EE. Blue has YET to lay an egg. She came out of one of 'bargain's eggs.
Here is another shot of Phyllis
And Blackie, walking away. I had a black hen larger than her that had a huge crest and she laid very large eggs like Rose, but one day she just passed away for seemingly no reason.
Phyllis eating some bread, with Blucy and Cloud getting ready to take a piece of bread out of my hand!
That is so kind of your church folks to get all those meals together for the less fortunate. Thank you for that. Your thoughtfulness and consideration is commendable. You are appreciated.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Phyllis's crest! She is a beauty!

Oh, I went into full panic mode. I did my internet searches and emailed the breeder and the woman that owns the dog we'll be up against ( I own the littermate/brother of the GCH dog, and the breeder breed both dogs, we email each frequently). Jim, the breeder, cc'd his handler, she assured me it was ok and Sunna's mom, Vinlands Totty, just earned her champion title while she was in season. A tip I got was to lightly spray some fabreeze on her hindquarters, also let the judge know so he/she won't spend to much time touching the hindquarters.
Thanks for sharing your experience with nerves, that helps a lot.
Mimddh on the other hand having a female in heat might "disrupt" any male competition. Have her sit several places in the ring (just briefly) then watch it stop males in their tracks later. LOL. Just kidding.
Kathy you have too much time on your hands. Why don't you go chicken to chicken thru all your 100-200 or 300 birds and give them all names. That should take some time. Then we will want photos and videos etc.
Happy gobble day. Think I need to restock the Tums.
