Step Into My World If You Will

So I've been making a bunch of videos folks, setting them to music and even sound effects now. They take longer to make with the music and such but I'm having a blast putting them together.

Here's my latest one done yesterday, August 15, 2010.

I set this young lady up with some bees this spring and she is having a ball! She even pulled about six gallons of honey.

Yesterday we housed a swarm one of her hives threw, it had become honey bound, a condition that happens when the bees are bringing in lots of honey but the queen runs out of room to lay her eggs.

To alleviate the congestion, the bees ingest some of the honey in the hive and swarm with a certain number of bees.

Swarms can vary greatly in size.

This was a decent one, around seven to eight thousand bees my guess.

Awesome, and I loved the zen moment with the red umbrella

That looks like a great jacket! Far better for the hot temps we get here than the jacket and suit that I have.

ETA: They aren't listed on the website yet. Any idea how much they cost?

The jackets are a brand new addition! I just happened to speak with Suzy this morning about adding the jackets to her site, as I noticed they weren't on there as well.

The jackets cost $169.00 and I believe that includes shipping.

We are planning on adding several hives this year and a ventilated jacket like that would be a great thing to have with the kind of heat we get.

Some bee keepers (I am told) go au natural under a full ventilated suit or shirtless under a ventilated jacket. I just may try the latter this summer.
