Step Into My World If You Will

I have to tell you, my kids are driving me up a wall with wanting to watch the car swarm video again! And again! And again! Amazing, thanks for showing us.

Haven't heard from you in awhile, give us a call when you get the chance!!

Hey Ann, glad to see you drop in. I actually called you about a week ago and it went to the machine. I don't believe I left a message though. I'll try again soon.

Tell the chopper hello for me!

Here's a video I made yesterday of myself and a fellow bee keeping friend Schawee in one of my bee yards. We pulled five mediums worth of honey, roughly 15-17 gallons of honey.

Hope y'all enjoy the video!

Right under a flight path, huh? You can really hear the planes going overhead! And you just take the frames and replace them - shaking them off in the process. We use a fume board and Fisher Bee Quick, take the whole super and bring it right down to the cellar where the extractor is. We'll start pulling at the end of July, first of August. This year we're doing it earlier to harvest some for the Marshfield Fair.

You've inspired me - I'm uploading the little video I took of our orientation flight excitement last Friday. I've never uploaded anything to YouTube, this is the first.

Happy 4th Ann and everyone else!

Yesterday evening I brought one full super inside and had the rest stacked at the front door.

I was greeted this morning by around three hundred bees from my neighborhood wanting to mooch some of that golden delight, but I added a fume board with beequick and smoked the rest out and sealed them up.

Just laying back today, will extract tomorrow most likely and will make a video of the process from start to finish.

Ann, creating videos is a ton of fun and a great way to document your activities.

Looking forward to seeing yours!

Please tell the chopper hello for me. Hope y'all are doing well!

JP33, I haven't had bees in over 50 years. This thread reminds me of how much I loved them. Got my first package as a 12 year old kid via the US mail. Do they still mail bees? Postmistress called and said get these GD bees out of here. Rode to town on my bike and retrieved my package from behind the post office. I bothered that first colony constantly. They were followed by a wild swarm that proved to be extremely aggressive. Got out my ABC and XYZ of bee keeping and ordered an Italian queen and proceeded to carry out my first requeening. I'm getting the bug. Perhaps there is a colony in my future? Do you have any problems with Africanized bees? Thanks for sharing this thread.

You can in fact still get bees through the post office.

AHBs were found in traps in Ruston June of 05 but cases have been very few since then, a small handfull.

I have had two colonies tested which proved negative.

Hey, its been wayyyyy too long since you've had bees!
