First I've heard this, pretty neat. Many references to The Shinning in Pixar movies.

Whew, just finished reading "The Dome", all 1,072 pages of it. I liked it! Had me worried until the last couple of pages that at least a few of the good guys weren't going to die.
Wow, over 1000 pages? I was wondering that is The Stand size and looked it up:

The Stand: 1,153 pages
It: 1,138 pages
Under the Dome: 1,072 pages
Insomnia: 787 pages
Desperation: 690 pages
Needful Things: 690 pages
Dreamcatcher: 620 pages
Duma Key: 607 pages
The Tommyknockers: 558 pages
Bag of Bones: 529 pages

Congrats for finishing and liking King's 3rd biggest book! ;)

Too funny! I've never looked at a list like that. I've read all but "Desperation" on that list and a couple of them 3 times ("The Stand" and "It"). Guess I'll need to find "Desperation" so I can polish off the list

Wolfgang, do you know where "The Shining" stands page-wise?

I could swear I read one of his short story collections many yrs ago that was as huge as the stand, can't find any evidence of it though.
Haven't read any King in a long time, guy that works third shift on the job I have left 'Everything's Eventual' in our desk so I read it through. Pretty good though the stories were not very horrifying as most of his, and he wrote why he wrote each one, his inspiration for the premise of each one, before the stories, little different . Almost was like he published 'ideas' he had for stories and had them built up and just decided to publish them. Was a good read though.

:(:(:( that's terrible.:(

I became addicted to Stephen King books when I was a teen, late '80s. They only had one book of his on the shelf in the middle school. The eyes of the dragon. I loved it and asked the librarian if they had any more. They did in the back closet room but in order to read anything in that room I had to get a parental permission slip.
Wow, they had all of his books, and they were huge!
I burned through all of them, read them on the bus ride to school, read them after I was supposed to be sleeping, till 2-3-4am and then had to get up for school. Think it only took two or three days to read the monster The Stand. When your a kid reading at night after everyone else is asleep and your scared you just keep reading and flipping pages hoping to get to the end before parents wake up in the morning. Lol! :gig
Lol! Yep. I Used to do that too and then fall asleep during school :gig

I have read that one! I liked it.

Isn't nightmares and dream scapes a pretty thick book? I think that one is short stories if I remember right.

I got rid of most of my books this week.Working at home I spend a lot of time looking at my house. It caused me to really take a hard look at what I can't live without and what I can. I did it before I could think about it too much
