Stepped on chick

There’s no need to be mean to OP. Nobody intentionally wants to step on a chick, and they did the right thing coming here for our advice. it was, obviously, a thoughtless, mistake. But it’s a mistake, and I’m pretty sure the emotional damage of stepping on a chick is enough, op doesn’t need you or any of the rest of us picking on them.

@godzillaandfriends I hate to be graphic, but how did you step on her?

OP also agreed it was a mistake and took accountability for it. theres no point being mean when they can’t go back in time and undo it.
I'm sorry. I stepped on a chick last year. He died pretty quickly. :(
But, it was a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes. :hugs
Leave the OP alone. 😟
i can’t imagine. I’m so sorry you did :hugs:hugs
i‘m visually impaired so I get really paranoid about stepping on the ducklings. I’m sure someday, when they’re big and grown, I will step on toes. And probably cry.

the best thing to come out of this thread regardless of their chick’s outcome is a reminder to be cautious and aware in our coops. which, imo, Is plenty important. I don’t think we should be shaming and possibly Preventing people from seeking advice because they did something careless.

I would keep her somewhere warm and where she can't get bowled over by other rowdy chicks (but where she can either see them or put one other with her) and keep an eye on her. Make sure she is drinking

She was on her left side, head out of under my foot, legs tucked in.

I agree. Everyone makes mistakes and my heart hurt when I read the OP being picked on like that. I always say don’t lecture someone on a mistake that they are already upset about. They get it. They messed up and their sorry. OP, you handled that situation well to by not getting mad and staying calm and collected. :hugs

Now on to the actual chick: Did you step on it all the way or did you realize before putting all your weight on it? Starting to walk and stand again is a good sign. It’s highly possible that there are just too many internal injuries you can’t do anything about. Also, and I know I’m not the first person to say this, separate the chick from the others. I hope with my heart your little chick pulls through :hugs:hugs:hugs

This was exactly my thought. I'm brand new to the threads and this was one of the first ones I saw. A couple of these replies made me wonder if this was a safe place to come for help if I made a mistake. I'm glad to see all these people standing up for OP!
