I stepped on my little 8 wk old scissor beak this morning and injured her one leg. She is now limping and won't put weight on that leg. I don't feel any breaks but I am wondering the best way to protect her as she heals. As if she needed more problems. Her sisters are close by!😥😥

Oh, dear. Poor little thing. A chick chair would be a help to her while she heals. Do a search for them here. There have been plenty of threads with good photos. One of the easiest is to cut head and leg holes in an old sock and suspend the sock like a hammock.

If she is walking at all, and the others are not picking on her, I would leave her with them. Make sure she has shade available to her, and food and water close by.

Separating birds makes for more problems.

I cannot see how badly a scissor beak she has, but be aware, that depending on the severity, they eat less than other birds. Feathers hide a lot of sins. They are rapidly growing, and sometimes their bodies out grow their ability to eat enough nutrition. I found this out the hard way, so just sharing. Weigh this bird and another bird often for comparison. Or they may be starving to death.

Good point, she is eating much better since I am putting pureed baby food in her chick feed. I will start weighing her.
