In the Brooder
Just noticed my chickens have sticktight fleas. Some of them only have a couple on their faces around their eyes, on their comb, wattles etc. Others have quite a few. What is the MOST effective way of ridding them. I'm not a naturalist although I am open to effective methods. This is the first time I have ever had this and it's mind boggling.
Background:
I have about 50 chickens. I've read about smearing Vaseline on their faces... tried that last night when they were all roosting and was about to go nuts with how labor intensive that is.
My yard is very sandy in places. About 35 of the chickens free range because my runs are under construction and no gates to keep them in. They have quite a few dust baths they have made and bathe regularly.
Coops are made of wood and are raised off the ground. So plywood floors. I do put a layer of DE down after cleaning.
I'm pregnant, so any chemicals to be used would be administered by my husband most likely...poor guy.
I sell 99% of the eggs, so I need withdrawal times.
Thanks in advance!!
