OK in this senarion I have 3 chicks chick 1 chick 2 chick 3 all 3 chicks were incubated and hatched using same incubator/hatcher
Chick 1 hatched on its own and has a lump around belly button Chick 1 is now 5 days old and bump is still there but definately starting to dry up other then that and 32 hours from pip to hatch pretty much easy goer
chick 2 due on same day as chick 3 (yesterday) pipped early and was almost 36 hours after pip I finally helped him out as he was starting to get quiter and less movement no zipping at all. a little sticky and head was flatten out a little so I am glad I intervened Have had the too much body not enough shell flatten out head thing before in ostriches and was glad I helped. now doing fine perfect belly button
Chick 3 due yesterday pipped yesterday afternoon around 1 and zipped hatched ( no help ) around 7 this morning sticky as all get out I checked his belly as I thought maybe leakage from unabsorded egg sac but button perfect but still looks as wet as when he hatched this AM but it totally dry to the touch
Do I need to bathe him using wet cotton balls or just leave him. I planned on moving them to brooder this evening but I do not want the older chick to peck at his skin.
So all in all it seems the only issue with the one I helped out, due to fear of being in there too long is doing the best at this stage rather then the 2 that hatched on their own.
What causes sticky hatches I have another set due to go in on Monday and need to get the hatcher cleaned and running again.
PS I think Chick 3 is a splash cochin which I SOOOO wanted, if not the lighted shade of silver blue ever
