So, my co-worker was talking with me about buying some fresh eggs for her BF. I told her that I have mostly brown eggs, but I do get a small amount of the white ones, as I have only a few white egg layers. She looked at me dumbfounded. She said the brown were fine, but asked me how in the world I get white eggs! I explained to her that some breeds lay brown eggs, and some breeds lay the white ones-it just depends what kind of chickens you have. Again, a puzzled look. She then told me that she just thought that all eggs were originally brown...that the eggs are all "bleached" to white to sell in the stores!!! I couldn't contain myself. I busted out laughing and again explained how the egg color thing works. She said she never knew. OMG, I couldn't believe it! (She is 49 years old)
Just had to share another misconception. People are so removed from their food sources it is scary!
