Okay, we have 11 eggs in bator now-- started off with a heat lamp and kept temp right at 99 degrees and hand turning them until bator arrived, transfered into bator and things have remained smoothly for duration but on day 17 we found one egg that was oozing, after helpful advice from BYCers (thanks) we disposed of it just to be safe. All other eggs look in great condition. We just don't know if we have any chickies in there-- we tried on several occassions to candle them but they are brown eggs and we just don't know for sure, we are newbies to this. sooooo.. if our calculations are correct (we are hoping) that some action will happen Sunday or Monday. We are planning on starting a new batch asap and want to do it right from the get go. We have 3 RIR's that are hoochie mommas with the rooster LOL and usually lay an egg a day- we want to put a dozen in the bator to try again. We are wondering how we store these prospective eggs until we get our dozen to put in the bator. The bator is excellent on keeping temp and moisture controlled so we just want to make sure we don't harm the eggs before we get them in the bator. So..... all you experienced chicken'rrs please advise us so we stand a better chance at some lil ones hatching. Thank you for all your help ! One thing for sure....Eggs are easier to eat then to hatch ! LOL
