Hello!
I am brand new to chickens and only "sort of" own some right now. I'm a teacher and I'm also the garden coordinator of my California Bay Area school's in-construction organic vegetable garden and mini-orchard. As part of our project, we decided to get a flock of 18 chickens to add to the fun (2 RIR, 2 Wynadottes, 5 sex-link, 5 Delaware, 4 EEs). And...now I'm obsessed with chickens.
I've been lurking on BYC and learning as much as I can the last three months; so have my students. Since I'm now pretty sure I will be adding a small flock to my urban backyard in a year or so, I figured it's about time to come out of my shell (get it??) and join the BYC community.
