Still looking for similar experiences

Elmo! my heart strings. that sling is so adorable. I'm sorry you're having such bad luck. I find animal troubles all seem to come at the same time. I'm glad you found the wound on your girl. it sounds like you have a good handle on it now. fingers crossed that it's not mareks.
Thank you, I am cleaning her wound twice a day now and it is smaller and the center seems soft, where as before it was hard. So I hoping we are on the verge of seeing better days. She wanted to spar with another hen yesterday but I had to intervene. Otherwise I keep her away from the rooster because I am thinking he might have been the cause.

Have you tried pressing on it? Does anything come out?
Love this quote,
Psalm 9:9-10 "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble."
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.
Thank you for reminding me that God mercy is not ours to understand but to walk in faith that our experiences make us better people.

I hope your hen gets better. Condolences for the loss of your rooster.

Thank you he was my buddy. Who would have thought you could get close to a rooster:)
ME! We went to buy chicks at a farm and saw some tiny rooster with a messed up crow and fluffy feet that made him look derpy when he ran. (d'Uccle) The guy wasnt intending to sell adults but I mean this rooster clearly wasnt the top of the pecking order. I think we paid 10 bucks for him. He slept in the window box outside the kitchen, would follow you around but lag behind and then RUN to catch up with you. Hed sit on SOs lap when he was mowing and fall asleep. His name was Heihei, after Moanas rooster, since he was a giant derpsauce. He eventually passed away - no idea why he got sick, but we also had no idea how old he was - and is buried outside the kitchen window.

So yes, I understand. :)

My hen today was kept in her kennel due to rain an heavy winds. Wanted to keep her separate from the rooster an give her time to rest. Yesterday she over did I think. I have been cleaning her wound twice a day. The spot looks smaller but still has a bad odor. She has been on oral antibiotics for a week now and over the counter triple antibiotic cream. Today she did not eat much and refused to accept treats. The spot on her back has a soft spot and was wondering if I need to lance it and let it drain??? I am nervous about doing this because I never have. Should I just keep doing both the antibiotics? When should I stop the oral?? Any life experiences with similar situations would be great. It looks like in a small spot the feathers could be plucked out. I thought if I did that maybe it would drain??? But when I tested it she gently pecked my arm. lol So I stopped. I have attached newest photo of wound as of tonight.

The wound does not look good and the odor is concerning.
What antibiotic are you using?

It would be best to seek vet care if possible. I'm not sure able lancing it.
Has the rooster had access to her this whole time? If so, good idea keeping her separate.
