Hi,

I posted yesterday about my chicken being sick and her vent constantly pulsating, but only got a response that that is normal. In this case it is not normal. It is constant. Also, she is eating little, holding her wings down, and never sits.

I still have to try the finger in the butt thing to see if there is an egg, but in any case, she is not trying to lay it. She hasn't laid an egg in the 3 days I've had her in a seperate cage.

I don't think her crop looks weird, but maybe there is something wrong with her throat? It seems like there may be a lump there, and from looking at chicken anatomy pictures there shouldn't be. She gets uncomfortable and chirps when I feel it, though maybe its just because that's her throat and nobody likes to get their throat felt like that. But it seems like there is a lump in the front there just below her head.

Unfortunately, I have not felt my chickens up much, so I'm not sure what's normal. She feels really skinny though.

How do I go about figuring this out? Is there a place to look at symptoms and follow some process of elimination?

Thanks!

Does she have access to oyster shell? Low calcium affects their ability to contract their reproductive system and leads to them being eggbound or prolapsed, even if you don't see an egg.

I hope she feels better soon.
