Hi all,
I posted in early January that I had 2 khaki Campbell’s sitting on eggs, well they still are! That’s been too long now hasn’t it? Could they be sitting on unfertilised eggs? If so what should you do? Is there a way to check the eggs? They do come out for an hour or so a day for me to do this.
Thanks for any advice, new to all this!

How do I do that please?

Do you have a flashlight app on your phone? That's what I use. You can use any flashlight though.. when it's dark, take one of the eggs out and shine the flashlight on the fat end of the egg, you should see veins and air cell if they are vital. Maybe even movement from the embryos. You gotta put the light right on the egg to see

Hi,
The best way to tell if your eggs are fertile or not is to candle them. You can buy a candler or use a strong flashlight to see what is inside the egg. Place the candler or flashlight under the egg and look at the egg. If your see blood vessels or movement ( and if your duck eggs are close to hatching a duckling) then your eggs are fertile. If not, they may be duds and you should throw them out. Remember, duck eggs take 28+ days. I waited a long and painful time for mine! Lol Good luck!
