Still no eggs this year :(

Mine have had so much rain and gloom over them they probably think they live in the rain forest. No eggs here with the ducks. The chickens are starting back. I found an egg the other day from one of my Buffs and it was so far down in the deep bedding no telling how long it had been there. I tossed it.

My older one has consistently laid since she was 4 months and smack Dab in the middle of the winter one of my younger ones that turned 5 months started laying. I still have one that is not laying and she is 6 months.

I'm in LA CA and it is NOT snowy. It is pretty darn warm and I have 1 egg so far. 1. And I think tht was that chickens first ever egg. I had just gotten her hte day before so the egg was already in the works. no more since. grrrrr. everyone tells me its a daylight situation. It has been rainy and gloomy. my other friends who have established flocks are getting plenty of eggs.

Giving them fake eggs won't do the trick. I tried and they didn't even bother building the nest. Today, it was quite warm again and I noticed their appetite increased. So far I found 2 eggs. One of them is laying. I think they will all start any day now.

Climate def has to do with laying year round another member here who lives in Texas has Muscovy who breed and lay and hatch year round mine are seasonal.

Ours have been laying 2 and a half weeks now. Most days it’s one egg, sometimes two, sometimes none. Today we got three. We have four hens but this year there have been so many cloudy and rainy days that they don’t know what to do.

Mine finally laid on February 28th.
Fake eggs didn't work for me either.
Fake eggs are still in there, they built a nest on the other side of the coop, 10 ft away.
We had less windy days, so I could open my shed doors (they still have greenhouse plastic over them) so they were getting a lot more light.
