STILL NO EGGS...

At 20 weeks there is no guarantee that any of yours will be laying yet. Some of them do start that young, but a lot don't.

I'm starting to panic and I don't know what to do! My hens are approximately 20wks old and I still haven't food one egg. I have five Barred Rocks, and two OEGBs,
20 weeks = 5 months. :D
Years of us raising new additions and once in a blue moon has a young pullet produced an egg at 5 months old. The majority of my newbies start closer to 24 weeks or sometimes later.

I got 3 barred rock pullets last year they were hatched at the beginning of May 2017 and the didn't start laying until middle of December 2017. They were around 28-30 weeks old. It felt like forever. Be patient..

They are all different and will surprise you. I have learned this as well. When we bought our chicks, we got two black sex links because they tend to lay earlier. We got two buff orps because we had read that they tended to be friendly, but were late in laying eggs.

So the black sex links are friendlier. One of the buff orps started laying eggs at 21 weeks, while one of my bkack sex links just started laying at almost 24 weeks.

I GOT MY FIRST EGG TODAY..LAID IN THE COOP! I'm so freaking excited! It wasn't in the nesting box but I'm okay with that! It is a small egg so I'm thinking it is from one of my OEGBs! If it is it's actually bigger than expected and if not then..beggers can't be choosers! And I'm just so grateful! It is odd I could go to the store and buy a dozen but this one little egg makes me so happy!

Really..I didn't know that! Everyone said between 18-20wks so I was freaking out but...GOT MY FIRST LITTLE EGG TODAY!

I think it is my OEGB (the one that lifts her wings)...the white one is just a regular store bought egg, the light brown is the egg and a quarter for size reference.

What do you all think? I had read that OEGBs laid white eggs... image.jpg
