Still no luck at TSC...

You could always ask where they order chicks from, and if they would let you order what you want, to come in with the next shipment. I have done this, and it saves shipping cost and sometimes because of the bulk quantities TSC gets, your chicks may be cheaper.

Yeah, TSC allows you to order chicks through them.

They turn in your order to the hatchery and you pick them up from TSC when they come in.

In this way you don't have to order the 25 minimum that hatcheries require.

Well, not true for our TSC anyway, the print out they have also list's a 25 chick minimum. I did not ask about shipping charges, but was told they would be shipped to my house (I assume post office) Although, from a company that employ workers that can confuse a duck and a chicken., who knows! I did ask about the supply chain, and was told they have a few hatcheries that deliver them.

The good news is that today they had more come in... I had my wife pick up 3 production reds, 3 Light Brama's and two they simply listed as a "featured breed" on the box, but were some type of white chickens (maybe leghorns? Not meat birds though)

Here are the new girls (we hope) I got 8 in case of roo's or "defect's". My goal has always been 6 hens, so two of them may be culled down the road.

Your new babies are cute. I ordered my chicks last September and am now getting eggs, so I had no idea that hatcheries would be sold out now. I just placed a duck order with Ideal and they are shipping them out next week.

The order form from Tractor Suppy itself says a min of 25 chicks.

Chicks have been hit and miss around within about 50 miles of Charlotte, NC too. The ones I got last week in York, SC out of 6 only 2 are still allive. The bantams were small even for day old bantams. We've been calling every day for a couple a couple of weeks looking for the bantams and no one was getting them in. Finally got a dozen of assorted today about 35miles from home.

Im kind of excited because I just found out I have a TSC 45 minutes away. going to call tomorrow and see what they have. Ordered chicks from Farm and Fleet, but they have a min. of 5 of each breed and I just wanted a few of different breeds too. and I dont care if I get a couple roosters too. Our TSC says special order on orders over 40 though, not 25, so I def. wont be special ordering anything. Im in Illinois, though.

This week my TSC had white leghorns as featured breed, cornish x , sold out of bantams and ducks, and also had white and red pullets. The reds were a mix of production and buff orps. Not sure what the white was.

We grabbed 4 wyandotts last week, 3 red pullets and 3 white pullets. So far all 10 chicks are alive and healthy. I'll be stopping in on monday to see what they have in. It sucks as a trip there takes me 1/2 hour in store as the workers know me by now and I always get stuck chatting.
