Still really shaken

Hmm kinda like horses. Put them in padded stalls, and they find ways to hurt themselves!!! Great...now I've got 8 tiny two legged horses!
Goodness, that puts me in mind of my mare. She is a 28yr old Egyptian Arabian and I have had her since she was 5 (Just think of how old that makes me!). That horse is so accident prone, its actually SAFER to keep her on turnout than in a stall. She kicks the walls when she is trying to express impatience or any kind of emotion really. She once put her foot through a piece of 3/4" plywood, got it stuck and apparently see-sawed it out. That was six months of debriding, flushing and wrapping. She knicked, but did not sever her superficial flexor tendon.

It is a very good analogy, they're just like horses. Accidents waiting for a place to happen. I got to the barn yesterday afternoon and my friends Morgan was standing ON TOP of a pile of lumber and other debris we are using to build field jumps.

I'm going to agree with Rbaker..... get a lid.... even a peanut butter lid, put pebbles or stones or marbles...
Then get something to prop it up on... (that's about the same size of the lid you use) to get it to their neck height.
and put it in a corner. It seems to work really well.... But you have to check on it more often, because of
evaporation and such. You don't want the water high enough that if they trip and fall into they can drown,
or get water up their nostril holes, which may wind up in the lungs, causing what I think you just experienced.
Good luck...!
