I don't think of my chickens of being friendly or tame, but rather different levels of fear. Some breeds are naturally more fearful of being handled, and some are barely fearful at all. I haven't found their temperments to be altered by handing. They are either fearful or not fearful. Most birds in general tend to prefer not being handled. In fact, I have found excess handling can cause them to be MORE fearful, because they expect that you are going to grab at them.
Sorry to be so contrary but I've raised hundreds of birds and this is what I've come to understand. You'll be pulling your hair out if you are waiting for them to be like lapdogs.
