Hello all,
New here and also brand new to chickens. I have a 5 week old amberlink that had vet obvious sour crop. We assume she ate some long grass when we let them explore the coop for the first time. Anyway, we massages and made her throw up and then withheld food for 2 days to make sure everything else went through like it should. Then we started giving scrambled eggs and yogurt. After a couple of days of waking up with her crop empty we decided it was time to add her back with the rest of the chicks and see what happens. We left her for a couple hours and I just checked on her and her crop is completely full. But instead of “water ballon” squishy is just feels full of food.

My question is...is it normal for her to fill up her crop so fast or do you think I still have a crop issue to deal with?

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to make sure you guys have all the details. Thanks!!

Ive never heard of withholding food to treat sour crop. You need to treat with Monistat as it is a build up of yeast in her crop. But just because Ive never heard of something doesnt mean it doesnt work so I would check her breath. If it stinks give monistat. @Eggcessive might know more

Thanks for the input! Do you know how much ministry they are supposed to get?

Thank you guys. That gave me part of what I was looking for. I will do my best!

Also in the future a little apple cider vinegar in their water might work as a good preventative for this issue. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
