Still trying to figure these babies out!

Uh-oh. I just checked some of the other slw threads, and it's not looking good for my Flash. Very young rooster looking, now that I have seen a few more. Man. Adding in Amelia, this will make 6/17 that we were told were girls!!! I really need to start reading up on the telltale signs within each breed before I head to the feed store for chicks!
 
I think flash is a Silver Laced Wyandotte too. I've heard that sometimes their feathers come in weird at first, and then they look more normal as their real adult feathers come in.
 
Well, I feel better knowing that Flash must be a slw, and more than likely a male. At least we won't have to change his name to something less girly when we drop him off at the feed store. :-/ Cue countdown to crowing.....

also when you get hatchery stock they almost always have poor " somewhat sloppey" lacing. Not neat like it should be but like you said there first set iffeathers come in wierd.
 
Well, I'm ok with that, and it does make sense that it would not be a show chicken. We'll take any color, any pattern....as long as it's a hen and not a rooster!
