I’ve asked about the chick in the back a couple of times because that one developed a redder, bigger comb and wattles before the sister… anyway, here is an updated pic.. they are just about 9 weeks old… I have been saying it’s a girl… and I’m still sticking with that… but others have said boy… the thing is.. this one hasn’t changed much since it started turning reddish… and they don’t look that much different.. only slightly bigger comb and wattles… any thoughts?

I’m thinking pullet. It really isn’t out of line with how some pullets mature. It is more pink than red, the comb isn’t giant, and the wattles are not very big or a deep red like I would expect.

Some birds just mature a bit faster than others and that’s what I am thinking is happening. I had a 7-8 week old Brahma pullet that had a bigger/redder comb and wattles than my other Brahma did when she was 16 weeks old. Comparing birds of the same breed can be helpful but in the end they are individuals with different genetics that affect how they mature

Great! Thank you…
Yea, that comb compared to two that my friend has from the same store/day/frizzle Cochins is no where near their size… pretty positive hers are boys… let me see if I have a pic of hers…
