Stinkin' Armadillo..

If you google "armadillo repellent" lots of info comes up. Whether or not effective is another story. A number of the remedies are nontoxic things that would avoid putting your pets at risk.

I am getting a small population of armadillos here. They have not started digging in my yard yet. When they do I plan to get some gravel to throw in any holes under my foundation. I will fill any holes in the yard with compost. I will also start hunting them if they start digging. I have a raccoon trap but don't know what would attract the dillos in.

Wow I never thought of Armadillos being a problem.
In New Hampshire we have coyotes, black bears, skunks, fisher cats, various weasels and many hawks and owls to worry about, but armadillos to worry about is new to me.

By the way my 3 year old daughters nick name is Willow Armadillo.

Most people I hear never see a live armadillo; only dead ones on the side of the road. I guess I could catch him and let him loose on the highway??

I'll take him, i would LOVE to have a pet 'dillo.

There has been alot of talk around here lately about armadillos moving into our area. Folks are already commonly seeing them in the low country. Someone told me they saw one on the roadside in Cola. recently. I didn't realize they could be pests though. Are they harmful? Other than the holes I mean. Do they go after eggs, or ummmm...goats milk:)?

I always thought armadillos were so cute; kinda like a little armoured horse. But they come out at night and dig and dig, looking for grubs and other treats. If you are trying to keep a nice lawn, they will wreak havoc on it in one night. Also, they dig faster than you can with a shovel. So you can imagine that night after night, they can put dozens of holes in your yard. Plus, the one (maybe more) we have, has a burrow dug right under our house foundation, which is not good. Every morning, I go out and walk in my yard to check new growth on my plants, and my yard has dozens of cereal-bowl size craters in my lawn, and they dig in my flower and vegetable beds.
