I have four ducklings which are 5 days old I have been changing their bedding (newspaper to cardboard) every morning and giving them baths everyday, letting them dry out after the bath, and I have their water in a feeder so they can’t splash around and get wet but they still end up stinking and pooping all over the brooder how can I get rid of the smell and the poop efficiently or do I just have to deal with it?

Please help 😩😩

Babies are the worst little poopers!
I line my brooder with puppy pee pads. I leave one end uncovered and the food and water is at that end of my brooder.

I put a 3-4 inch deep layer of "Kaytee Clean & Cozy Small Animal Bedding" through out the rest of the brooder. The first day they may try nibbling on it but soon learn it isn't food. It absorbs the liquid in the poo and is soft and warm on the feet.

I change it daily, at 2 square feet per duckling. If the brooder is smaller you will need to refresh it more often.
Sprinkling a handful or two over the soiled litter will cut down smell and be a clean surface for the poopers to soil.

We use towels in our brooder and usually shake them outside and throw them in the washing machine. We usually change everything out 3x a day.
The more they grow the messier they get...they are just as messy as everyone says :)
Wood chips should work well too and absorb some of the moisture and poop, just don't use the cedar chips. We use wood chips in our adult ducks coop and spot clean every morning (like a cat litter box) when they go outside in the morning.
They will get stinkier for sure but ducklings are so cute it makes it all worth the mess!
