Set shipped eggs yesterday around 6pm, by bedtime I could already smell something funky!

Found a weeping egg and removed it.

This morning smelled the funk again. No weeping eggs, so I smelled each one, found it. Now I don't know if I have "that smell" in my nose or what but the air coming from the 1588 still stinks!

Should I just let it go and see if it reveals itself or is there another way to figure it out? What would make an egg go bad so fast?

Thanks for the help! I'm determined to get blrw hens somehow! Let's hope those stinky eggs were the roosters!

Sounds to me like you got sent some VERY old eggs.

Sorry, I wouldn't count on any hatching. I would toss them, demand a refund, and buy from someone else.

If even ONE drop of that weeping egg got on the incubator it will smell. That stuff is HORRENDOUS, now you see why it's important to candle at least one time. I had an egg blow up all down the side of my head, face and arm one time when I went to sling it out in the field. Now I gently put them in a sack and place them on the burn pile. I think the government ought to contract us hatchers out to make a weeping egg gas to use in the military LOL!!!!!!

I would go thru and sniff every single egg again maybe candle them to see if they have anything funky going on in side that you can see , then I would make shure nothing was on my bator and put them back in , I would not atomaticlly throw them all away you never know if someone sent you half old eggs or all or just two or what , by day 4 or 5 at the latest day 7 you should be able to see if they have viens and babies in them and go from there
GOod luck

I tried that once when I set some eggs that were really nasty from the beginning. I took out the offending eggs and continued with the hatch. A HUGE portion of the babies that hatched had open abdomens with their intestines hanging out and open skulls with exposed brains. Turns out that bacteria in the bator can cause such deformities.

Ok lmck, now you're freakin' me out! I have two sets in there and don't want to lose the second set! The ones that had the funk had very porous(sp.) shells.

I would hate to lose them all! And I got them from a byc'er with a great reputation!

When you smell something bad go and sniff some fresh coffee grounds. Was in an expensive cologne shop once and they had little jars of coffee to clear your smeller buds or what ever they call them each time you smelled a different cologne .

Thanks rancher, that's easy enough to try! I hope it's me and not the eggs but I'm not very hopeful about it!

Since the eggs are so early I would probably pull them out and quickly disinfect the bator. If it was me I would still toss every egg from that particular batch and put the other set back. You could end up hatching them all with no issues, but to me, it just isn't worth the risk. Since it is someone with a good reputation they would probably be willing to replace the eggs for you to hatch later.

Thanks, I'll go do a real thorough check now and see if I can make it right!
