This is our coop with attached run. It has wheels and I move it about every 4-5 days (easy to do since it's small).

It still REEKS. the actual coop where they sleep does not stink even though it has plenty of poop in it. The poop in there dries. It's the poop in the run/on the grass that smells. It smells like a barn.

I'm worried my neighbors will literally catch wind of the fact that we have chickens. They're not specifically prohibited in our hoa but not specifically allowed either.

I have 4 bantam Cochins so their poop isn't even that big!

Ideas? Anyone else have this issue? Everyone on here seems to say they have no smell but I do - and it's only in the run.

Thanks!

When poop smells that usually means it is wet and has built up a bit. With all the rain many of us have been getting it doesn’t take long for it to smell. Also because it is small and easy to move the poop builds up faster than if they had a larger area to poop in.

Instead of moving it every 4 to 5 days try moving it every day, at a minimum every two days. I think you will see a huge improvement. That’s why I gave up on my tractor. I had to move it really often to keep the smell down.

X 2 - a small tractor like this allows for too much concentration of waste in a short period of time to move it every 4-5 days. Shifting it even one spot in any direction on a daily or, at the very least every other day, basis will likely be the fix you are looking for.

Thanks, everyone!
We live in a desert and it never rains. We water twice a week. So it's not wet. But it is a small run and the poop builds up. I'll try moving it more. Thanks again!
